During a recent press conference held by the United Workers Party (UWP), Public Relations Officer Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute addressed the lawsuit filed by St Kitts-based Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP) investor, MSR Media, against the government of St Kitts.
The lawsuit also named Saint Lucia’s CIP CEO, Mc Claude Emmanuel, as a co-defendant. The lawsuit, filed in Florida under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, alleges that the Kittian government is complicit in the illegal underselling of passports. According to Montoute, the Saint Lucia CIP is facing a lawsuit in the US federal court for alleged illegal corrupt practices.
The CEO of the Saint Lucia CIP, Mr. Mc Claude Emmanuel, was named in the lawsuit under the RICO Act. The lawsuit claims that CIP investor Caribbean Galaxy was allowed to engage in the underselling of St Lucian passports for only $65,000, despite the legally set price being $100,000.
Montoute highlighted that this alleged practice is known by the St Lucian government and is allowed by the CIP program. Furthermore, Montoute expressed concern regarding the lawsuit’s claim that MSR Media possesses voice recordings and documents related to the underselling of St Lucian passports. He emphasized that despite warnings and red flags raised by the opposition for nearly two years, the government of St Lucia has either ignored or denied the claims being made.
Montoute criticized the administration for finding itself in yet another scandal under the Philip J Pierre administration, despite being given opportunities to prevent the current situation.
