Sunday, April 7th marked the observance of World Health Day and the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The entity, which is the global authority on health matters, came into being in 1951, with the amalgamation of three existing international health bodies.
Since then April 7th has marked the commemoration of this accomplishment, and has served as a day to acknowledge advances in the medical field. This year’s celebration centered around the theme “My health, My right”, shedding light on the fundamental human right of access to quality healthcare, education and information.
