Record breaking Sprint sensation Julien Alfred is now back on her native soil. Alfred was received amid pomp and fanfare at the Hewanorra International Airport, on Friday April 5th, 2024. The Ciceron Native was greeted with a welcome ceremony which was followed by a motorcade to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Castries where she met with Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre and his cabinet.

Alfred’s return signals an end to a groundbreaking athletic season, earning her the title of Second Fastest Female runner over 60 meters in the world. The University of Texas attendee cut a swath through numerous athletic championships, becoming the first St Lucian to win gold at the World Championships and the first woman in NCAA history to break the seven second barrier over 60 meters. Alfred has also been named the fastest woman ever from the OECS.

Despite her numerous achievements, the three time NCAA Division 1 champion doesn’t intend to laze in the sun. Alfred has already announced the launch of the Julien Alfred Foundation to provide athletic equipment and school supplies to underprivileged youth. The foundation will also provide equipment to local athletic clubs.

The launch of the foundation has been set for Saturday April 6th.
