The mother of homicide victim Kimberly de Leon has once again voiced her disappointment at the lack of movement on her daughter’s murder investigation. Mary Williams appeared on local talk show Newsmaker Live earlier this week, where she spoke with host Timothy Poleon about her exasperating quest for justice. According to Williams, despite several attempts to secure an update on the status of the inquest, the Royal St Lucia Police Force has been decidedly tight-lipped.
Kimberly de Leon’s life was tragically cut short after she sustained a single gunshot wound to the head on october 29th, 2018. The 42 year old mother of two was standing in the kitchen of her residence on the Morne at the time of the incident.
Since then, reports that the police were pursuing leads in the case have borne no fruit. At a recent press conference convened by the Royal St Lucia Police Force, Commissioner Crusita Descartes Pelius was pressed on the matter. Pelius revealed that the police were actively investigating the case and were currently awaiting ballistics reports from a foreign lab.
Yet Williams says this information is not new, as the wait for a ballistics analysis commenced at least three years ago. She believes that the wagon’s are being circled as Kimberly’s husband, Leozandre De Leon, a member of the service, had previously been named as a person of interest in the case. Despite the roadblocks set in her path, Williams has asserted that she will not be denied in the pursuit of justice for her child.
Meanwhile Leozandre de Leon has taken legal action against the Royal St Lucia Police Force for defamation and slander.
