Recent searches of cells within the Bordelais Correctional Facility, conducted by prison officials and other law enforcement partners, have unearthed a plethora of illicit items. According to Deputy Director Leonard Terrance, investigators confiscated cell phones, chargers, scissors, stones and cell made weapons, among others, from inmates during a series of searches commencing on March 21st.

Terrance observes that inmates continue to employ measures with increasing sophistication in an effort to smuggle contraband into the facility, yet assures that officials are equally committed to maintaining safety standards.

Terrance revealed ongoing challenges posed by persons loitering in the vicinity of the prison, who have made it a habit of lobbing goods over the fence at every opportunity. He confirms that several items have recovered including cannabis, shoes, snacks, juices, lighters, alcohol and cigarettes, during these encounters.

Members of the public who engage in this illegal practice are being strongly cautioned to cease and desist from such behavior. The BCF has established guidelines for the acceptance of approved items into the facility and as such members of the public are advised to adhere to these rules, as failure to do so could result in criminal prosecution.
