Government Senator Lisa Jawahir has expressed her support for the move to create a women’s parliamentary caucus geared at fostering greater female participation in St Lucia’s political landscape.
Following her appointment as the Vice President for ParlAmerica’s Caribbean Gender Equality Network in September 2023, Jawahir has championed the cause of women in politics, lending her voice to several issues surrounding gender equality.
Jawahir says the establishment of a women’s caucus comprised of women from both sides of the political divide will prove beneficial for the country’s development.
The senator hopes that the formation of the caucus will encourage more young women to enter the political arena.
