On Monday June 28, 2021 to Wednesday June 30, 2021, the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) will participate in the World Blindness Summit via an online platform. There will be more than 30 conferences in three languages on cutting edge themes, involving around 3500 guests from all over the world. Participants will address relevant matters impacting men, women, boys and girls, living with Blindness/Vision Impairment in the world.
For its 10th General Assembly, the World Blind Union (WBU) has
organized the first globally accessible online participatory process to elect its new Table Officers.
280 WBU delegates have elected Martine Abel-Williamson (New Zealand) as the new President of the World Blind Union. Martine Abel-Williamson is on the board of WBU national member Blind Citizens New Zealand. The new leadership of the WBU for the term 2021 to 2025 has been elected as follows: 1st Vice President: Fernando Riaño (Spain),2nd Vice President: Yaw Ofori Debra of Ghana), Secretary General: Diana Stentoft of Denmark and Treasurer: Diane Bergeron from Canada. This summit is part of the 2021 WBU General Assembly, in collaboration with International Council for Education of people with Visual Impairment (ICEVI).
