Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has lamented that for too many years, fruit and provision vendors have had to endure the blazing sun or the pouring rain whilst simply trying to earn an honest dollar.
“I am extremely happy that very soon they will be back to their original home as the first Phase of the Castries Market Redevelopment nears completion,” Chastanet wrote on his official Facebook page.
He asserted that he is just as eager to see the commencement of Phase 2 which will see major upgrades to the remaining facilities at the market.
The first phase includes a sheltered area for provisions market vendors, along with upgraded amenities and surface covering.
The other aspects of the Castries Market Redevelopment Project l include a state of the art food court, high-end air-conditioned restaurants, a craft market, a box park, a viewing tower, an entertainment area, meat and fish depots and duty-free shopping boutiques, and other amenities.
