In observance of World Public Service Day 2021, the Public servants of St Lucia were commended by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet for their hard work and dedication.
“As we join the United Nations in celebrating Public Service Day 2021, I congratulate all public officers for their contribution and the resilience demonstrated especially through the COVID 19 pandemic. Our Public Officers continue to contribute significantly to managing the pandemic in one way or the other and for that you must be commended. Your creativity and service must not go unnoticed.”
He said that this year’s theme, “The Work Landscape: Post-Pandemic” is quite appropriate given the tremendous contribution and indeed sacrifice, that public servants everywhere have made towards the fight. He also stated that there is no doubt that without strong, hardworking, fearless and dedicated public service workers most countries would have been completely overwhelmed by the ravages of Covid-19. However, we must face the reality that the aftermath of the pandemic will require that we do things differently.
“Having observed your contribution and sacrifices over the last year I have no doubt that you will take on the challenge. As we begin discussions on what the work landscape would look like post pandemic, I must remind you that we are still at a stage that requires much vigilance and commitment in protecting ourselves, families, coworkers and friends from the pandemic. I continue to reiterate the need to remain vigilant and in full adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.”
The Public Servants were encouraged to continue to seek God’s guidance and blessings in service to the people of Saint Lucia and in all that we do.
