On Saturday July 26, 2020 a cyclist was injured in a road accident at Pierrot, Vieux Fort about 1.50 pm, The cyclist collided with a minibus which was travelling in the opposite direction. Videos posted on social media revealed the bicycle in pieces on the road. A male individual who appeared to be a friend held on to him crying out his name asking him to hold on.  “Rawl Gasa don’t die on me, don’t close your eyes on me, hold on my brother,” said his Friend in tears as they awaited emergency personnel.

The victim’s injuries included a fractured leg and a broken right arm according to reports.

An ambulance from the Vieux Fort fire station transported the victim to St Jude Hospital where he was said to be in serious but stable condition.
